Build a better sending routine

A little checking.
A lot more clarity.

A crypto transfer is a set of decisions. The asset, the network, the recipient and the fee need to fit together before the final approval.

Use a repeatable sequence for every new destination. Then follow the transaction through the stages your recipient actually needs.

Follow the sending checklist
01

Match the asset and network

Read the recipient’s current instructions. A familiar ticker or address format does not establish a supported route.

02

Check the destination

Verify the full receiving address and any required memo or tag against a trusted source.

03

Leave room for the fee

Review the total amount and the fee currency. A token balance alone may not cover a network fee.

04

Follow the receipt

Keep the transaction reference. Network confirmation and an exchange’s account credit can be different stages.

When the destination is another network

Different chain?
Understand the whole route.

Before a cross-chain send, identify what leaves, what arrives, and which contracts or providers connect the two. Compare the full journey, including custody, fees and the final receiving requirements.

Before you press send

A few things worth getting clear.

Start with the fundamentals, then open the guide that matches your route.

Cross-chain reference: ethereum.org’s bridge introduction. Always check your receiving service’s current instructions.

Can I send an altcoin to any crypto address?

The destination must support the exact asset and network. An address that passes a format check is not proof that the receiving wallet or service will accept that transfer. Start with the wallet and destination checks.

Do I need ETH or SOL to send a token?

For ordinary self-custody transactions on Ethereum, gas is paid in ETH; on Solana, network fees are paid in SOL. Some services sponsor or abstract fees, so review the actual payer shown in your wallet. See the Ethereum and Solana guides.

Does “confirmed” mean an exchange has credited my deposit?

Not necessarily. A receiving platform applies its own asset, network, confirmation and deposit rules before crediting an account. The exchange deposit guide explains that extra stage.

Is a cross-chain send the same as a wallet transfer?

A cross-chain route needs a mechanism between networks. It can introduce additional contracts, service providers, custody assumptions and asset representations. Read the cross-chain overview before choosing a route.
